I’m in Lavvu.
I carry with me my Lavvu of sunbeams wherever I am: The Sami are the children of the sun, the sunbeams symbolize the four corners of the world. For several generations behind me are those women of my family who have lived in a lavvu. It is not possible for me as an urban Same.
Symbolically, the Lavvu is still there as the “safe home” and my ancestors live within me as long as I remember them. I can always carry my light-lavvu with me as a quiet retreat.

Synopsis:
I use the samish traditional dress in different hypothetical situations and contexts. How will it be to wear it, will I find it comfortable? This movie is a part of a jojk, it is my jojk without the singing. The jojk is traditionally used to remember or dedicate something to something or someone.
A jojk, can be about longing. I have been denied to be a sami, my language has been taken away, aswell as my traditional costume and my culture. I want to recapture lost knowledge and culture.
